Lorena Carbajal - Founder, Lead Artist Educator & Creative Arts & Play Therapist Trainee
Lorena is a specialist art educator and professional artist with over 20 years of experience gained running art projects, classes and workshops for children of all ages and abilities. She studied Visual Arts with Art Teaching Training specialising in primary and secondary school at the National University of San Juan, Argentina. She has also earned an MA in Fine Art (Art & Space) with Distinction from Kingston University, London. and an MA in Art & Design in Education, at the Institute of Education, University College London and was awarded a Distinction for her Dissertation. She has been a Tutor at the Faculty of Philosophy Humanities and Arts at the National University of San Juan, Argentina, for their Art Teaching Training Pogramme for Primary and Secondary Education.
Lorena has developed Art and Education projects for various institutions, including TATE Gallery, Aardman Animation, Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Francis Crick Institute, Orleans House Gallery, Queen Mary University of London, The Centre of the Cell, Samuel Johnson's House, The V&A Museum and The National Gallery London where she worked as a Gallery Artist from 2018 to 2021. She has also worked for numerous Primary and Secondary Schools in London and the South East. She has won various awards, among them an UNESCO-Aschberg ‘study residency’ at IMMA, Dublin during 2005/6 and August 2009.
Lorena is a Certified Creative Arts and Play Therapist accredited by Leeds Beckett University and the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC). To date Lorena has completed 300 hrs of 1-1 Creative Arts and Play Therapy sessions to date as part of her training.
Her real enthusiasm for creative arts helps her to run inspiring and colourful workshops in a positive environment where participants can experiment, explore and develop their artistic talents.
Born in San Juan, Argentina, Lorena moved to the UK in 2001 and has continued to display her work in solo and group exhibitions in Argentina, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Finland, Germany and Hungary. Her work combines mixed-media, installation, video, photography and collage.
Lorena has a current and valid DBS certificate. She also has Public Liability Insurance as a freelance Artist.
